BACKGROUND
Born in Tampa and raised in Belleair, Kelly was initially exposed to the real estate profession at the age of five (nearly 30 years ago!) when her mother, Bonnie, started selling. Soon Bonnie became a Broker, and started her own thriving real estate company, Beachcomber Real Estate. Kelly helped Bonnie during summers in high school and college, and began to learn more about the business. Not certain what she would choose career-wise, as a sophomore in college, in 1992, she went ahead and got her real estate license, “just in case.”
EDUCATION
Kelly graduated with honors from Largo High School and decided to attend Florida State University. She enjoyed writing and public speaking, and chose to major in Communication to further her knowledge and experience. She is a firm believer that effective communication is an essential component to any business. Kelly graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
After college graduation, Kelly began a career in consulting with Accenture (Andersen Consulting at the time.) As a consultant, she worked for numerous utility companies throughout the United States helping them streamline their businesses and reduce costs. Specifically, she was aligned to the Human Performance service line and developed training and tools to transition client employees to new positions and teach them new software as rapidly as possible with minimal disruption to the business. She worked for Accenture for nine years and was promoted to Manager, an executive position within the firm, when she decided to “switch gears,” and apply her skills to real estate.
Tired of traveling and eager to build a long-term career, twelve years after getting her license, Kelly decided to join her mother in real estate in March 2004. Together they could leverage Kelly’s business experience, enthusiasm, and the skills she learned as a consultant with Bonnie’s wealth of experience. Kelly joined Bonnie at Coldwell Banker, who bought Beachcomber several years earlier. Together they became the Ruggles Team, devoted to delivering exceptional service to every client.
In September of 2006, Kelly attended a real estate seminar sponsored by Keller Williams in Austin Texas. It was her first exposure to Keller Williams. She was extremely impressed by caliber of the seminar, in addition to the energy and enthusiasm of the agents, and the company's commitment to each agent's success. Then she attended training sessions at the local office in Largo, and was further impressed with the focus on agent education and self-improvement. She decided that Keller Williams had the tools and resources she could employ to better serve her clients and to grow her business to new heights, so she joined Keller Williams Gulfside in October 2006.
PERSONAL / COMMENTS
Kelly is thrilled with her career change. In her short time in the business, she has connected with numerous clients and successfully led them through what is sometimes the most important transaction of their lifetime. She enjoys getting to know and understand each client better so she can serve them most effectively.
